“N-P-W! N-P-W! N-P-W!”
The rabid DC fans chanted. The Capital One Arena was very loud. The show opened with a man who appeared to be glowing standing in the middle of the ring. He has a microphone. This man is also holding the NPW World Heavyweight Championship Title.
“If you are confused at what you are seeing right now. I understand. For those here in the arena tonight. And for all of you watching at home right now. I think I have got some explaining to do.
First, you are probably wondering, “Who is the hell is this guy? And why does he look like he’s glowing?” Valid questions. My name is Spark Diaz. I am apart of NPW Front Office. Have been since the very first NPW show. The 2nd question is too long of a story to get into here. That’s not important right now.
Let’s address the elephant in the room. Ok maybe there’s more than one elephant in this room. As you can see I am holding the NPW World Championship Title. Andi Seraph is not in this ring right now. Infact, Andi Seraph is not even in the arena here tonight.
Within the past 24 hours there has been some major changes here in NPW. Yesterday morning NPW owner Masked Babyface communicated to all the staff at NPW HQ that he was going to be taking a leave of absence. This left me with the unenviable task of taking over as interim General Manager of NPW.
After the news was communicated to the NPW Staff. It was then communicated to the NPW Locker Room. In response to this news, last night, Andi Seraph effectively asked for her immediate release from NPW. Vacating the NPW World Title in the process. Do I know why Andi Seraph took such a bold course of action? I’m sorry but I don’t have those answers. Maybe one day Andi Seraph and I can figure that out. Whether it be in an office or in the ring.
There is an old saying. The show must go on. And that is what is happening starting next week. By the authority granted to me by ownership I am declaring a 4-Man tournament to decide who will face Daniel Cole for the vacant NPW World Championship at Clash of the Immortals in Athens, Greece. The semi-finals of this tournament will be next week. With the final round taking place the week after. The participants of said tournament will be announced later this week.
And for now ladies and gentlemen, that’s all I have for you. Thank you for tuning in and enjoy tonight’s show.”
Commercial Break
The crowd settled into the arena and were going through the motions getting all of their chants prepared as the ring announcers did some warm up exercises with the crowd to keep energy up as we got ready for the first contest.
Mr Taco vs Ace
Loud Mexican rave music blasted through the arena as Mr Tacos accompanied by his wife the beautiful Mrs Tacos danced their way down to the ring, the crowd danced and jumped around along with the music even though they didn’t really like Mr Tacos as he had a bit of a reputation as a cheater.
Ace was out next, none of the theatrics of his opponent just wanting desperately to snap his losing streak. The crowd was conflicted not wanting to support either man as they were both despicable.
“Crowd certainly in a confusing position to start the match here” David Sheller, from commentary stated. “Yeah both of these ‘men’ are not really fan favourites” Johnnie Beautiful, also on commentary added.
The official slides into the ring, checking both men, patting them down for any illegal weapons and once clear, sends them to their corners and calls for the bell. The match was on!
Both men charged and collided in the middle of the ring Ace however had misjudged the weight of his opponent and instead of having a 60lbs difference he was closter a 130lbs difference.
Ace was sent flying across the ring, Mr Tacos laughed as he walked over and was going to start his assault however Ace slided out of the ring and was trying to catch a breather after the wind had been knocked out of him. However Mrs Tacos had snuck behind him and threw him back into the ring.
Ace was trying to figure out what was going on when Tacos picked him up and started laying in punches. Ace however was finally in a familiar situation so he started returning punches. Both of them were fighting fiercely for the advantage.
It was one lucky punch landing on the liver of Mr Tacos that forced him back and Ace pushed the advantage. He went low and cut out his legs and was trying to apply The Fold (Crossface) to Mr Tacos trying to make the bigger man tap. The referee was watching the hand closely as Mr Tacos was on the verge of tapping, however it was Mrs Tacos again interfering as she delivered a kick to the back of Ace’s head making him recoil and release the hold.
Mr Tacos crawled over to the ropes and pulled himself to his feet, Ace on the other hand had crawled to the corner and was tearing off a turnbuckle pad. Ace got to his feet and himself and Tacos battled around the ring, and ended up in another corner Tacos sat Ace down and was preparing him for the Taco’s Stench (Stinkface) however out of the corner of his eye he spotted the ref trying to fix the turnbuckle so he slipped down and under the bottom rope when Taco’s turned his back and Ace swung up his leg catching Taco in the bell peppers!
The referee finally looked at what was going on, now with Tacos on the mat clutching at his bell peppers, Ace slid out of the ring and was dismantling a table. Tacos slowly recovered but then dug into the back of his wrestling panties and pulled out a brass knuckle, in full view of the referee. The referee tried to take it off Tacos but when the smell hit his nose the referee fainted.
While that was happening Ace was bashing Mrs Tacos for her interference delivering a spinebuster onto the steel fencing. Tacos rolled out of the ring trying to save his wife but Ace was wise to the brass knuckle avoiding that hand, rocking Tacos with a strike to the head and then throwing him onto the table and setting up and delivering an Ace of Spades (Project Ciampa) through the table.
The official was still out cold as Ace then picked up Tacos and threw him into the ring and was looking for the official, he tried to wake him up by slapping him and shaking him but instead Tacos was starting to stir, when Ace remembered the brass knuckle. As fast as he could he rushed out of the ring to the medical corner grabbing gloves and a big bottle of disinfectant putting on the gloves and getting back in pouring the disinfectant onto the brass knuckles and Mr Tacos’ hand. He removed the brass knuckle and slipped it on pummelling Mr Tacos with his own weapon only stopping when the second official who was having a smoke in the back finally rushed into the ring. Ace tossed away the weapon standing up and placing his foot on Tacos’ chest pinning him as the Referee counted.
“1 . . 2 . . 3! Your winner Ace!” The announcer called as the crowd rained down boos on the victorious Ace.
Chance vs Chandler
After the chaos of the final match, we come to a battle between two brothers who can’t seem to escape each other. First out, was the debuting Chance Sill, playing to the crowd and rallying them behind himself.
Chandler Sill then came out. As he made his way down to the ring he had an intense look on his face.
“Chandler is looking focused tonight” Sheller says. “Seems that way, certainly was conflicted throughout this week, there was rumours that he wasn’t going to show up tonight” Johnnie Beautiful adds.
The two brothers exchanged a glance as Chandler entered the ring and got the pat down from the official searching for any weapons or contraband.
The official calls for the bell, and the match was on!
Chance and Chandler locked up in the center of the ring and immediately Chance dropped breaking the lockup and picking the ankle and dragging Chandler to the mat wrapping around the leg in an ankle lock looking to put a quick end to the match.
Chandler however used his weight and power advantage to drag himself to the ropes forcing the break between. Chandler slipped out of the ring looking to recalibrate. Chance followed his older brother out and they were about to brawl on the outside but Chandler sweeped his brothers’ legs and then picked him up by the legs and swung him into the barricade.
Chandler ducked back into the ring as the Referee began his count, however it was only the count of six when Chance had recovered and slipped back into the ring.
They once again began to circle and started exchanging strikes. Usually Chandler was able to take advantage when facing his brother in this situation but under the learning tree of one of the best strikers in the game, Chance had made serious improvements to his arsenal, forcing his brother back to the ropes and the official was forced to make the break.
The two brothers have a clean break as then Chandler had to change his game plan once more as he then switched to a grappling game. Using his height and weight to force Chance off center and deliver a brutal wrestling takedown. Chance was rocked as he was dragging himself up to his knees, Chandler instead of pushing on the takedown, got up and was looking for a brutal shining wizard to put Chance out for good.
Chandler was just about to deliver the strike when Chance just let himself drop falling under the strike. Chandler was furious, his brother was outplaying him. He picked up his brothers body and threw it at the opposite ropes, looking to deliver a flying shining wizard, bouncing off the back ropes to gather momentum.
Chance however regained his positioning as he was about to hit the ropes himself and at the last moment took a step up and springboarding off the second rope back at his brother and turning into a huge phenomenal forearm!
Chandler was down in the center of the ring, after the forearm, Chance had rolled into one of the corners as he then saw his moment, he called for it, summoning Chandler to his feet as he then delivered Crack The Dome (Flying Superman Punch)
“1 . . 2 . . 3! Your winner, Chance Sill!” The Announcer called as then the younger brother was now three and zero against his brother. Celebrating and cheering with the crowd.
Then there was the ring of feedback as Chandler was recovering in the corner and was now holding a microphone.
"Chance, as you've probably seen I don't make a lot of friends around here. Actually I make more enemies than anything. And with the roster growing and lines being drawn I want to make sure my back is covered. And having family is better than having friends?” Chandler said as he then pulls himself up to his feet before delivering a rolling back elbow to the official of the match.
"So why don't we just say screw you to NPW trying to tear us apart huh?” Chandler added looking down at the limp body of the official and then looking to Chance and offering the handshake to his brother.
The crowd goes wild screaming at Chance “NO!” “Don’t do it!” “You can’t trust him!” “You don’t need him!”
Chance takes a moment looking at his brother, looking at the outstretched hand, thinking and then taking his brother’s hand and shaking it.
The crowd drown them in boo’s, exclaiming their hatred for this new duo.
The Ghost vs Danger
After the interesting interaction in the last match we are back with what should be a much more straightforward contest between two fearsome competitors.
The Ghost was first to make his appearance, more confident and assured this week as bitter rival Sickboi had been banned from the arena and wouldn’t be making an appearance tonight.
“The Operator” Sam Danger was next out as he looked to make sure that his victories so far in NPW made him stand out and defeat The Ghost.
The official went over the rules of the contest with both men and made sure they knew that this wasn’t to devolve into some brawl or bloodbath. The official sent both men back to their corners and then called for the bell to be rung, the match was on.
The Ghost and The Operator locked up in the middle of the ring jockeying for position, THe Operator having four inches over The Ghost however was commanding a distinct weight advantage with a more commanding figure than The Operator.
The Ghost kept his center of mass lower than usual to counter The Operator’s grappling attempts and was able to take it to the ground with a subsequence ground and pound delivering several unanswered strikes to the head however, The Operator is able to control the arm, hooking it and leveraging it into a kimura, to save his arm The Ghost is forced to break his position over The Operator and putting some distance between the two of them.
Once they were both to their feet the official looked over both of the competitors and then the two of them rushed at each other, throwing themselves into an attack and they both collided mid air and collapsed to the center of the ring.
The two competitors were now winded as they crawled to the corners of the ring trying to recover, currently they were in a stalemate, these seconds of recovery were critical. They either needed to recover quicker or more than their opponent.
Danger forced himself up trying to catch Ghost mid-recovery, however just as Danger was about to lay in the boots he suddenly lost his footing as Ghost slipped out of the ring taking one of The Operator’s feet with him. The Ghost then pulled out the other leg and had The Operator wrapped around the ringpost. The Ghost applied the cloverleaf around the ringpost and was tearing The Operator’s legs apart. The official made the count and The Ghost only let go after the count of four.
The Operator then fell out of the ring and was trying to gather his senses barely holding himself against the commentary table. The Ghost stalked his way over to Danger tossing him onto the table and climbing onto the table himself. He lifted up The Operator and delivered a brutal Uranage through the table causing them to go crashing to the ground, The Ghost barely maintaining his feet.
The Operator was out like a light, The Ghost dragged the body back to the ring and Entered him into the Graveyard with another and final Uranage!
“1 . . 2 . . 3! Your Winner, The Ghost!” The Announcer called.
Wildcard vs Infamous
The next match is a match between two competitors who know how to pick an opponent apart. They both are technical wrestlers.
Billy Infamous and Aidan Archer both made their way out to the ring. Billy Infamous was coming off a victory over John Stone from the previous week and was looking to keep that momentum. While Aidan Archer was very motivated himself as he wrestled JKO to a no contest the week prior. This had left a bath taste in Archer’s mouth.
Right from the beginning of the match Archer was bending the rules. Using a closed fist. Whenever the ref called for the break, keeping holds for 4 ½ seconds. Grabbing the hair and the tights for the advantage.
Billy Infamous outwrestled Aidan Archer most of the match. But in response to being outclassed, Archer would keep cheating to get back into the match.
Once Billy Infamous had had enough. He hit Archer with the Bullhammer. Going for the pin immediately after. Archer got his foot on the ropes to break the pin.
The true turning point of the match was when Infamous went for the Buzzsaw kick. Archer ducked to counter the move. He then hit the BlackJack on Infamous. The count was a 2.9. The fans exploded when Infamous kicked out.
The fans were firmly behind Billy Infamous. They too were sick of Archer’s cheating tactics.
The match ended when Archer countered an attempted Dragon Suplex and reversed the hold into The Archer’s Arsenal (The Crossface). Dragon Guy reached for the ropes. He fought valiantly to get the break. The crowd cheered him on while he scratched and clawed. But Billy couldn’t reach and he couldn’t take anymore.
Tap! Dragon Guy tapped out!
“Your Winner, The Wildcard Aidan Archer!” The Announcer called.
Cole vs Stone
It was finally time for the main event match up, “The Silent Servant” Daniel Cole facing off with “The Unbreakable” John Stone.
John Stone was the first to enter the arena, an ominous aura following this man as he entered the ring fully kitted out in his black combat gear. He was ready for war, and this opponent presented his greatest challenge to date.
“The SIlent Servant” Daniel Cole then entered the arena under the shroud of red smoke and dimmed lights walking solemnly to the ring.
Once both of the men were in the ring they stared each other down, they both felt that this battle was something they would be remembered for. As Cole’s eyes met Stone’s there was an odd moment a flash of colour in Stone’s eyes as if someone else was watching. Cole was unfazed as the official did his final checks for the night and they called for the bell and the match was underway.
A huge leaping knee strike from Cole to Stone shakes the competitor and Cole sets up to deliver a cutter and end this match. However, just as Stone was in primary position to be struck down, Cole didn’t strike. He backed away and waited for Stone to regain his composure.
“That’s a risky move, not ending a fight when you could” Sheller says, “More like a dumb move, what is he playing at?” Johnnie Beautiful adds.
The two lock up in the middle of the ring and jockeyed for position, both men quite similar in height and weight; however within arm’s reach Cole had the advantage, forcing him into a Muay Thai Clinch and started bringing up his knees, rocking shots on his body.
Stone returned with some powerful forearms and punches forcing them to break and put some distance between them, Cole however wasn’t going to let him have the distance without cost as he rolled and picked Stone’s leg and forced him to the ground and applying a knee-bar just off centre of the ring.
Stone was in a bad situation as he was technically outmatched by his opponent, however with a surge of power he dragged himself to the ropes and caused the two of them to break. Daniel Cole was seething now as he paced the ring, it was clear that he wanted to remain in control of this match.
“So is this him? Is that all he allows you to muster?” Cole taunted as he then looked around waiting once more for Stone to regain his composure.
“You don’t want that to happen, escape while you can” Stone said back as he once more planted his feet solidly on the mat. As if destined to do this they meet in the center once more this time just trading strikes back and forth until one was forced to withdraw. It was an intense series of strikes between both men and after they both connected with a forearm to the head they both collapsed to one knee.
The official was checking on the condition of both men but they were both laughing as they both summoned the strength to stand back on their two feet. They laughed as John swung once more but this time it was caught as Cole locked up both his arms and from the double underhook position and lifted the man over his shoulder and delivered a brutal Osaka Cutter!
From then it was the end game, Cole lifted up Stone to his knees, walking over to the corner and signalling for the end, Wrath of the Master (Running Knee Strike) which connected with Stone’s skull and he was down for the count as he then pinned John Stone.
“1 . . 2 . . 3! Your winner Daniel Cole!” The announcer called as the crowd were in awe of the battle between the two men.
Daniel then celebrated the win as the crowd was starting to shift on him, perhap starting to see what he saw. That’s when Stone began to convulse and twist as the eyes he saw before took control and as Stone got up and went to attack Cole he spun him around looking for that cutter but the moment they were eye to eye again the voices in John’s head screamed as they saw something they didn’t understand, whatever was controlling John freaked out and ran from the ring. Cole was left alone as a red light bathed him before fading to black.
After the last contest of the night. We got word from announce booth that we would be seeing the Sickboi live via satellite to address The Ghost. After moments of awkward silence and a snowy titantron screen. Sick boi never showed. The announcer's chalked it up to head games Sick Boi was trying to play with The Ghost. The whole thing felt awkward because the fans were just as confused as the announcers. The show ended zoomed in on a snowy satellite feed as the pictured faded to black.
